Our mission is to make Sacramento laugh. Every day.

Sacramento Comedy Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation (47-3441374). In addition to supporting the local comedy community, we partner with other local nonprofit organizations to create comedy event fundraisers that help make Sacramento a better place to live. We operate a youth program that provides improv training for kids, giving them an opportunity to develop confidence and be creative in a safe and supportive environment. We create comedy-related events, like the Stand-Up Competition and Comedy Festival, that draw comedians and comedy fans to Sacramento. We also operate Sacramento Comedy Spot, an adult comedy show venue and home to Northern California’s largest comedy school for adults.

We believe that a more diverse community is a stronger community. Sacramento Comedy Foundation is committed to diversity, equality, and inclusion, at all levels of our organization, at our events, on our stage, and throughout Sacramento.

In order to provide these services we need your help. We are currently raising money for the following:

Diversity Scholarship

The Sacramento Comedy Foundation awards Diversity Scholarships on a monthly basis. If you would like to donate to the scholarship fund the Foundation will give two class scholarships for every donation amount equal to a paid class. ($135-$170) These scholarships will be IN ADDITION to the scholarships we already award monthly.

Comedy Spot Training Center

Comedy Spot Training Center

Thank you for helping us get the Comedy Spot Training Center (915 T Street) open November 2017. We still have some work to do including replacing doors, painting, adding more exterior lights, signage, replacement windows, curtains, and other items to make everyone feel at home.

Comedy Spot Improvements

Last year we were able to replace our chairs and upgrade the Green Room.

We still need to upgrade the stage, upgrade stage wall, replace the Green Room door, replace the dividing wall between the showroom and the backstage area, and new exterior lighting.

Improv for Kids

Thanks to you we were able to launch our Improv for Kids program January 2018. We would also like to expand this program to participate in After School programs around Sacramento. To do that we need to develop curriculum, screen and train instructors, buy uniforms, and expand our insurance.

A NEW Location

We just signed a lease that will keep the Comedy Spot on 20th Street until 2023. Before the end of this lease we would like to BUY our OWN building that will house all of our operations under one roof including offices, the Comedy Spot showroom, an expanded bar and restaurant, second smaller stage, TONS OF CLASSROOMS, collaboration rooms, a green room next to the stage, and a real tech booth!

We want to open up our classrooms and collaboration spaces to all performing arts organizations in Sacramento!

So, let’s get some new digs!
